‘Summertime Angel’ Alexis K debuts honest indie-folk EP

Alexis K, an emerging singer-songwriter based in Ogden, Utah, has released her first EP, "Summertime Angel."

Raised in Clinton, Utah, in a house full of music — singing along to blues songs and performing for her mother and friends — this year she started writing her own songs to share with the world.

The indie folk songs on "Summertime Angel" are honest reflections on past relationships. Its title track refers to those relationships that resulted in a "fairytale being destroyed by resentment," using seasonal imagery to reflect deep emotions.

"I want my music to feel like you just read a page out of my personal diary," Alexis said. "I want the people who listen to my music to walk away feeling okay with being honest, not feeling ashamed about their experiences."

Alexis feels fortunate to have worked with local legends Amir Jackson and FilmLite Media on the music video for "Summertime Angel," which was filmed underneath the 24th Street bridge in Ogden.

"The backdrop was absolutely gorgeous with the trains, river and mountains... it fit the vibe of the song perfectly," she said.

Some of the visuals were shot behind Jackson’s studio located at the Ogden Union Station. 

“There was a lot of support in the room by very talented people that made it a very special experience.”

Alexis hopes to keep creating, expanding her art, finding more opportunities to perform on stage and finding her audience.

A deluxe version of "Summertime Angel" with two additional tracks is coming soon.
