Dogs at Farmers Market Ogden. Provided by Ogden Downtown Alliance

Ogden Downtown Alliance (ODA) is hosting the first annual “Dogden” festival during the Farmers Market on Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tail-wagging celebration in the Municipal Gardens on Ogden’s Historic 25th Street will feature a dog parade, giveaways, contests, dog agility course demonstrations, Dogden merchandise and more — all alongside artisans, fresh produce, and handmade goods.

The heart of the festival is the bond between humans and their furry friends and dogs looking for loving homes. Local rescue groups including Weber County Animal Shelter, Golden Bark Foundation, South Ogden Animal Services, and Herding Haven will be onsite with adoptable dogs looking for forever families. Visitors can connect with these organizations, meet adoptable pets face-to-face, and learn more about how to open their lives to a new best friend.

The event is sponsored by Alphia, a leading pet food manufacturer in the U.S., whose manufacturing site is in Ogden.

“Dogden Festival combines two of our favorite things: community and our four-legged friends,” said Jessica Anderson, Marketing & Communications Manager at ODA, in a press release. “We’re excited to see so many dogs registered for the parade and to partner with organizations that help pets find loving homes. It’s going to be a fun, safe, and memorable morning for the whole family.”

Registration for the dog parade and contests is free but required. The first 200 dogs to check in for the parade receive a limited edition “Dogden” bandana. For more information, including registration and a full list of adoption partners and vendors, visit www.ogdendowntown.com/dogden.
