There is a new brunch in town we can't wait to try, at woman-owned and operated Lost Texan BBQ in Pleasant View. Judy Gomez acquired the long-time local spot in April 2025.

A grand opening for their new brunch last Sunday was warmly embraced by the community; there was a line out the door with regulars and new guests, exceeding expectations.

The menu includes Brisket Polenta, Tostada, breakfast sandwich, Smoked Spam Hash, Breakfast Platter (smoked sausage, two sides, honey cornbread and egg scramble) and a meat barbecue plate.

Brunch is now a staple, every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Gomez has a love of cooking that started at home with her mother, an exceptional cook who worked in an Asian-Mexican food truck in L.A. This sparked Judy's passion for bold diverse flavors and fusion. She trained in Fort Worth, Texas, where she learned authentic, traditional barbecue techniques from some of the best in the industry.

“What we're building at Lost Texan BBQ is a reflection of traditional Texas roots with a fearless, modern twist,” she said.

“Cooking isn't just something I do, it's who I am. I spent years waiting for the right opportunity, and the moment I stepped into Lost Texan, I knew it was it. The heart behind it, the strong family values, love for our country and the pride in tradition aligned perfectly with the kind of brand I wanted to build and grow on.”

Along with head pitmaster Manny Ojeda, they smoke using post oak from Texas pushing boundaries while staying true to authentic barbecue.

Gomez's favorite brunch dish is the Smoked Brisket Polenta: cheesy smoked polenta, 18-hour peppered brisket, fresh chimichurri sauce and crispy fried onions.

Mothers will get a free gift and treat this Sunday, but only until they run out so get there early.

Lost Texan BBQ is located at 1144 W. 2700 N. in Pleasant View.
