A beloved community tradition since 1978, the Lindquist Family Symphony Pops Concert returns on Sunday with a live symphony and cannons, vendors, food trucks — and for the first time, 500 drones instead of fireworks.
On June 25, Gov. Cox issued a temporary statewide fireworks restriction through July 5. Restrictions in Ogden City remain until further notice.
A press release from Weber State University stated that the decision complies with the state’s efforts to minimize fire risk, while still offering an enjoyable experience for attendees.
Beginning at 9 p.m., the New American Philharmonic will perform Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” on-site by the duck pond along with the booms of 16 cannons set off by the Cannoneers of the Wasatch. The drone show will follow at approximately 10 p.m.
The 47th Lindquist Family Symphony Pops Concert will be held at the Ada Lindquist Plaza at Weber State University on Sunday, July 12, from 9 to 11 p.m. Guests may not save places with blankets or chairs before 6 p.m. on July 11. The event is free and open to the public.
