“Upward,” an inspiring documentary film by Ogden filmmaker Cassidy Eames debuts Monday, October 16, at 6 p.m. at The Monarch in Ogden.

The story highlights former local Reid Woolsey on his solitary trek in North Carolina for the Cirque Series virtual running challenge Max Vert October, “battling inner demons, hallucinations, and his triumphant ascent to an almost superhuman achievement.” Woolsey smashed the world record for most elevation gain in a single month—500,645 vertical feet in 31 days in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

“I got hooked on a story of my friend who found inner peace through trail running, overcoming internal and external battles and conquering an ultra running world record,” says filmmaker Eames.

The film also features Robert Davis, who Ogdenite hikers may have seen last October as he lapped Malan’s Peak 8-9 times every day, gaining 407, 789 feet in 31 days.

“This is an exciting and touching story and documentary that I've poured my heart into. I can't wait to share it with the community and audiences far and wide,” Eames says.

The 35-minute film will start at 7:15 p.m. after pre-show socializing and live music with DJ Adam from 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $15. For more information and tickets visit Eventbrite.
